After Lynne and Tim left for a meeting, Anita, Cory and I decided to find a sports bar with a big TV to watch the USA - Germany World Cup soccer game. We changed trains several times and retraced our steps with the train back to Zurich. The train went past the track of the sled run we did on Friday night. It was more spectacular during daylight where we could see the numerous bridges and rivers that ran through the valley. As we dropped altitude the snow became less and less until there was only green paddocks and the only vsign of snow was on the far away mountains. The valleys were all coated in fog ...
There are many things in life that you forget just how much you hate them, until they are happening again. Writing reports, going to the dentist and cleaning the oven are just a few of them. Long-haul flights are another. There is nothing enjoyable about being squished into tiny seats, unable to move your elbows, next to strangers who will most likely fall asleep (and drool!) on your shoulder. ... Mouches. The River Seine cruise was relaxing and provided amazing views of the city. Next stop was Le Tour Eiffel!! We found our Easy Pass tour guide who led us to the front of the line and up to the second level (not bad ;) ). It was quite windy, but we bundled up and made our way to the deck and amazing views of Paris. Our tour guide gave wonderful historical accounts and information. We then headed to the Summit where we enjoyed a champagne toast. It is said ...
... in to sit down at one of these typical small round tables with smokers on either side. French ones though and English only spoken by us. I had rabbit and John some "a la maison" beef. Quick service, high quality food and we were. Very happy indeed. But hot and very tired. Metro home to our cozy oven. Another wine and in bed after 11. I think we will make it to our silver wedding anniversary! And if our 24th was celebrated in such style as today what can i expect for next ...
