... a brisk walk into town. Thankfully the rain has stopped and the day had warmed up. We enjoyed an hour together at a lovely wee wine bar drinking red wine, eating bread and pate and soaking in the atmosphere, before returning to the hotel for a delicious three course meal, including salmon and creme brle to die for. Yes I am looking more like those sculptures of the women at the Guggenheim!!!! ...

'Old' meaning 200 years unlike most places in Spain that seem connected to Roman, Moorish or medieval times. The city was in control of the French in 1813 but was besieged for some time by a combined Anglo- Portuguese force. When the French surrendered the victors went on a week long destructive binge. Bar a few buildings the whole place was ...

... a really short walk from the hotel, but just down a different road. After walking up that big hill I was relieved that we were going downhill home!

Mitch was definitely in need of a steak and some veges and that's just what he cooked for dinner. It's disappointing that I'm feeling under the weather in such a beautiful place but I'd much rather feel that way here, where we're only just relaxing anyway, than somewhere like Paris, trying to do all the sights. Bed.
