Vannes is 13th century and has medieval ramparts and watchtowers and gates and there are beautiful halftimbered houses and buildings behind the townwalls. As we were only there for one day we took a mini bus trip which took us all around the old city and outside the walls! Fougeres has a magnificent castle built on the side of the hill sloping down to the river. The builders had used the river to fill the moat and drive four water wheels that remain in use (I guess having been replaced a few times).

... found Juvigne! It was 7:30pm and everything was closed except for one tiny little roadside bar that we managed to buy 2 bottles of wine and we had a bag of chips and a chocolate for dinner!

... an early night. Kerrie was fast asleep by 9.00 pm while Greg retired at 11.30 pm after working on the Blog. So much for an early night.
