... gave us brilliant views of the surrounding countryside, hilltop towns, and Chateaus. It was perfect for the kids to run, play and explore the many topiary mazes. We also visited the ancient caves along the river where people have lived since cro magnon through to the renaissance. We are sailing today from Lyon to Tournon, there has been a lot of rain so the Rhone river is on Orange alert, which means that big ships cannot sail. The reason is that the Rhone has several locks, which are really really fascinating. I've never sailed on a boat like this before (not to brag, but I have been assigned the role of ballast on a catamaran previously) so these locks are so great! ...
