... of the entire group before saying our farewells. It was well after midnight when in the middle of all our tears we said our goodbyes. The girls were in tears, especially Maelys and Jade and poor Hamish tried so hard to keep his tears in but collapsed in floods of tears as soon as we drove off. It has been a fabulous time with our new friends, they are so warm and generous and such a lot of fun. I hope we see them again ...

... were able to let out some of the pent up energy from sitting in a car all day. We gave them our gifts and then settled in for a lovely night. Laurent, Phillipe, Sandrine are as welcoming as ever and we had a lot of fun. Laurent's girlfriend, Miriam was there too and her daughter Lauren who must have been about James' age. Another day of cruising on the riverboat as we make our way to Provence. Today, a three hour stop in Tain l'Hermitage where we toured a winery (with just horrible wine), the Valrhona chocolate boutique (Barefoot Contessa says this is the best chocolate in the world), and an art gallery. Then back onboard. Five days in to a seven day cruise, we have made many friends with whom we sit in bar as scenery goes by. Life is ...

... at 8.15 we hitched up and drove round to the entrance in order to hand in the barrier card only to find that reception did not open until 9.00. They did not mention that as I checked in the day before. I even asked at the shop if they could reimburse me for the €20 deposit, but no joy.
