Why my legs and I differ in our opinions of Quebec

... Montréal, but given the name I was at least expecting that to be an incline of some description.

The main tourist area of Quebec City is within a wall and is divided into an upper and lower town. Naturally I'm in the upper part of town, meaning an uphill walk back whenever I visit the lower town. The problem with the lower town is it is worth visiting, or at least it seems worth it until I'm facing the return journey. Next time, ...

Exercise walk around the Citadelle

Both of us couldn't get off to sleep last night Richard did an update of iCloud on his ipad and now the screen is different. Thought I had to do an email to Steve for him as he forgot which password he used for iCloud. The grey cloud shifted and Richard remembered so now he can use his ipad. Wasn't till about midnight that we finally died and went into a deep sleep. I woke up at my usual time of 6.00am and now that I am up to date with my ...

... the Citadelle. I was looking forward to ordering "deux bireres" but rather like the Parisians they look at you as if they don't understand and reply in English so don’t bother! You can walk around the old city walls and overlook a huge park called the Plains of Abraham, where the British defeated the French in 1759. Naturally we had to walk on this hallowed ground!

... great dinner and celebrated. It started to rain, so the manager moved us inside the restaurant where we stayed nice and dry.

We have met a bunch of nice RV people on this trip and everyone says we should drive out the Gaspe Peninsula because of the beauty. So off we go tomorrow. WiFi might be a little spotty, but somehow I'll get a post. We have some whale watching to do.

And the adventure continues,

Historical Traveler Reviews Le Saint-Pierre Auberge Quebec City

    C'est Magnifique!!

    from

We spent three marvelous nights at the Auberge St. Pierre during the American Memorial Day weekend (May 28-June 1) and it was superb! The room was exactly as we booked and there were no surprises with the price or accommodations.

    Excellent

    from

We researched the hotels in the old city and decided to go here for two days. It was the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff was extremly helpful and polite. It was a great location. Breakfast was very well done. I would recommend this anyone.

    Nice, great location

    from

We booked the auberge for 3 nights over Thanksgiving weekend. We booked the next to the smallest room for $135CAD/night, and it was quite nice but not as warm and cozy as we'd hoped. The wood floor and simple furniture gave it a less than warm feel. However, the room was immaculate, high ceilings, long drapery, the bedding excellent, the bathroom brand new and immaculate, and the service very good. Since it was off-season that area of the Lower Town was very slow. Yes, there a some wonderful restaurants around the corner, but no bars or even other hotels (except the Dominion) to sit and people watch. So after one night at the auberge we visited the Chateau Frontenac and asked to see a "Standard Room". They don't readily offer these rooms, as they are at a discounted price (I first found this room catagory on the internet, but couldn't guarnatee it wouldn't be a double bed with no window or worse, so we didn't book). We chose a beautiful, spacious king room with a window but no view for $139CAD/night! No breakfast included, but it was a delight to be in the Upper Town to people watch and stroll the busier streets. So I would recommend the Auberge, particularly in high season when more people may be about. However, it is only 2 blocks to the funicular, so in moments one could be in the Upper Town and find more activity.

    The reviews are absolutely right

Delightful & helpful staff. Also when we had a problem with the hot water for more than a day, they first gave us a bottle of wine and then only charged for 2 of the 3 nights. They need to work in the Website for making reservations, though.

Great little hotel on Rue St. Pierre

    from

My husband and I stayed at Auberge Saint- Pierre at the end of July 2003.This was a terrific place to stay -a welcoming, cozy, and Convenient location - -great value -including delicious full breakfast cooked to order every morning - charming rooms and large bath with lots of extras like fluffy bathrobes and a jacuzzi . On a rainy day they even provided large umbrellas for us to use as we went sight seeing. The staff was friendly and helpful in both French and English. They made our stay a pleasant one.

    Unbeatable little Inn!

    from

After 4 days/nights in this wonderful little Inn, we know we will have a great deal of difficulty staying ANYWHERE else and finding comparable customer service and ambiance! The folks in this hotel couldn't do enough for us and made us feel like the most exceptional customers on earth! The rooms are beautiful, the area is steps away from anywhere you would want to be and the employees truly form an unbeatable team of experts in the true meaning of "customer service" and what it should entail! True French Canadian hospitality prevails and nothing seems to stand in the way of putting this across! Keep up the amazing work folks!!! We'll be back!

    You will want to Return

    from

Fabulous experience. We had a lovely room with bright red walls and ceiling and yellow floral duvet cover. The jacuzzi tub was a welcome relief after long days of walking. The included breakfast was choice of menu and we loved everyone who worked there. This is a great hotel and the location in the lower city is excellent.

    GREAT Place

    from

Stayed twice at Auberge St.- Pierre in last 10 days, bracketing a trip to the Quebec countryside. Rooms are large, colors are striking but not gaudy, and the staff was consistently helpful. Located in lower old town, it is near many good restaurants, a convenience store, and only a few block walk (although uphill) from upper town.

    It was wonderful

    from

We just returned from a long weekend in Quebec City. We stayed at the Auberge St Pierre and found absolutely no fault with the accomodations. The rooms are smallish but quaint and very clean. In fact we were pleasantly surprised with the extra attention to details that they offered. Not only was a full breakfast from a menu included every morning, but also a lovely "happy hour" with the best pate de maison and a couple of complementary drinks every evening. The staff were very professional and helpful. They recommended great restaurants for dinner and even found us a spot to watch the Leafs playoff game. The location was perfect. We had no need for a car and since it is located at the bottom of the City you were always walking down hill to get home. Would highly recommmend it.

    Wonderful Place

    from

My wife and I recently stayed at this wonderful inn in Quebec City. Charming rooms, excellent food and a central location characterize this inn. Particularly impressive was the helpful and friendly staff. They rcommended local restaurants, and well as places to visit in the city. They even cleared up a billing dispute with American Express in a courteous and professional manner. I would recommend Auberge St.-Pierre to anyone staying in Quebec City.
