... at 6:30, take a taxi to our hotel, carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs to the reception desk and then relax in our rooms for a bit. We have a great view of the harbour, which is must across the road. We head downstairs for a refreshing ale and then wander the foreshore until we find a restaurant we like the look of. Seafood for dinner, a promenade around the harbour and then back to the hotel for the night. Full on explore in the ...

I've collected quite a few bruises on the boat - seems there's always a rail or corner to bump into when moving around, especially when negotiating locks or mooring up. There's free wifi in the cafeteria as we made use of that until it closed and will get back there again in the ...

... Rob's tickets are cheaper than mine as he's riding on 'senior age' tickets. It's a bit funny. Saved us 5.60 euro! That's one whole coffee and change! Not to be sneezed at. We checked in at 4pm to a beautiful little B&B called Maison Arlene. Only four rooms and we've booked three of them. We walk back to the station to meet Gary and Sue off the train and while we're doing that, Doi, James and Jo message that they've arrived at the hotel. So ...

... with how to say it. A soft "G" as in "rouge" rather than a hard "G" as in "Get". And the "s" - well, apparently, in most of France you would find it silent but in this region they use it so let yourself go!

Gers was one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution and contains parts of the former provinces of Guyenne and Gascony. It is a rural area with a population of around 170,000 which is about that ...
