Still cool, but with sunny intervals. Decided to stay an
extra night here, to explore the local area.

Spent the morning housekeeping. Afternoon ride into
nearby, lakeside town of Gérardmer. Very pleasant forested, countryside around
here, with pretty chalet type houses. Lots of walks and cycle rides, with

But before the main event we were eagerly awaiting the merchandise cars that come past, literally throwing stuff at us we were able to score loads of freebies. After this the big team buses and all the small official cars came through. All very exciting! The riders finally came through and the level of excitement definitely turned up a notch. All the hours waiting for those few minutes of cheering is well worth it. ...

... cereals, pancakes, fruit, eggs, cut meats, certainly my style of meal! After a fair bit of discussion and planning we were ready for a ride. We decided on a loop from the hotel up the road to the Hohrod military cemetery. We the dropped down a hill with 20klms of descent, amazing to ride these roads, due to the tour being on the roads they were laden with people, all cheering and waving to us, we managed ...
