    ... of the road had no oncoming traffic. Luckily there wasn't. Two miles on up the road, as I turned off, he made a sheepish apologetic gesture with a wave of his hand. Could so easily have been the end of the holiday, if not the end of our lives.

    campsite a bit disappointing compared with what we have been at on our travels so far. Not overly friendly, seems more focussed towards French clientele. The surrounds and scenery are beautiful, mountains as far as can be seen. Must be excellent for winter ski season too. Hot still. Summer has certainly hit! ...

    ... take away the road works signs ( the town is having a new water supply put through its heart) this place could be off a news reel in 1945. It's almost a ghost town and un touched for decades. The Tour de France came through here in 2012 and looks to have taken everyone with it! It seems the residents that do still live here and the local Maire are trying very hard to embrace tourism to bring back some life into this sleepy hamlet. One of 6 in the region with around 600 ...

    ... train to Besançon, my seat and sit back to enjoy the countryside...making sure I don't step on the lovely ladies sharing my 4 seater space. After some time I head out for a refreshing beer and some smelly cheese in the dining car. The cheese is brilliant, and the barman reassures me that I need to get off at the first stop in Besançon!     ... we got a big shower and the rest of the day the sun and rain took their turn. We arrived at 5:10 pm at Bellerive-sue-Allier which actually is just over the bridge from Vichy.
