So as the technology Gods are not with me today, this is the third time I have written this first entry. So apologise in advance if it appears a little laboured or rushed, but for those who know me, you will know I hate to repeat myself. We arrived in Bayonne from Paris this morning on an overnight bus. It was a colourful evening of friendly, and often not, banter between the French and Portugese, who were heading home to the bus' final destination, Lisbon. It began ...

Today was a travel day to meet up with our Rick Steve's tour group in Bayonne, France. The French high speed rail system (TGV) works like a charm and moves thousands of people in great comfort with every train. We arrived at Bayonne, on the western edge of France after about five hours of "flying". Bayonne is an old river port near the Atlantic Ocean - ...

Bayonne is the capital of the Basque - a happy marriage of sea and mountains and is a compact area straddling the western Pyrenees on the Atlantic seaboard. There are 7 Basque provinces, 4 in Spain and 3 in France.

Did you know that Bayonne is "The Town of Chocolate" - I knew there was a reason for me to come here!!!! Christopher Colombus was the first European ...

... when you approach a house and you hear this deep guttural growl followed by a menacing bark - you think to yourself 'geez thats a big dog' and when you get to the front gate it is a jack russel terrier! Well, that was this kid. I just want to say 'respect'. Anyway, there was either an american or british couple sitting directly opposite me in the isle and they were in no way as pleased with this young fella as his grandad was. The only dramas ...

          Sexy San Sebastian!

First and foremost, San Sebastian is foodie heaven! When they say it's Spain's culinary capital, the title is very much justified! It is also a relaxing picturesque beachside holiday destination, which I think could actually be quite horrid in the heat of summer, packed with the beautiful people! It's starting to be in the bit overdeveloped category, but still has a lot of charm and is very beautiful.

Playa de la Concha, the main beach, is ...
