After a long and torturous 5 hour drive from grotty Diego Suarez, which of course did not go to plan, we arrived at Ankify in time for lunch at our hotel, ‘l’hotel Baobab’, ...

Connor was doing his PADI exam this evening - Bruno will collect him early in the morning and bring him to us, before we head off to the mainland. They have arranged for a speedboat to come to our hotel and take us across, then we get a vehicle and driver to take us to the Reserve de l'Ankarana where we should see different species of lemurs.
Looking forward to seeing him!
... plan was that we go to the camp tomorrow afternoon and bring him back to our hotel. However, it now sounds like tomorrow night is going to be a big 'last night' at camp, so we will only collect him on Friday morning before we head off to our next destination (Reserve de L'Ankarana, where we will see lemurs in the wild)!

We had an hour's hair raising drive, in the dark, to the small town where we are staying. There are few street lights, but people were walking the roads as the cars tear along them. We were immediately impressed by the lovely smell of ylang ylang and the intense sparkle of the stars against the very black night, with just a tiny sliver of moon to light everything!
