I sort of expected to be disappointed by a touristy city. Maybe it's because I'm in the outer less tourist hit areas but... Wow... It's totally charming, the old medieval/renaissance city really comes through, I recently did a course with TV historian Ruth Goodman and She said I'd lived it & she wax spot on. Moreover it's not a pristine unesco museum piece it's 'Alive' ...

In recognition of it being the most beautiful square, it is the only "Piazza" - all the others are called "Campo"! It is its buildings that give it its beauty and the fact that one side of it is open to the lagoon.

Venice Day 2 We started our day around 8:30. We grabbed a small breakfast sandwich with two waters around the arsenale stop to share at the beginning of our morning. Really indescribable. Dome ceilings, gold leaf paintings, and massive amounts of detail. We got in trouble for taking pictures ...

... sips and its all over red rover, not only is it over in 2 sips, you shouldn't be bothered getting take away. The locals just stand at the counter and drink it there and then.

I got a take away cup and it came in a Styrofoam cup with a plastic lid that you couldn't drink out of. They have places called Bars not cafe's & they are all over the place, they don't have seats, just a bench to rest your small coffee cup on and that's it.

      Porto Cervo

Today we drove to Porto Cervo and walked through the marina where we saw huge fancy yachts and stores. A Ferrari cafe, Maserati bikes and cars, and chic boutiques. Then we drove the Costa Smeralda. Ad took our plane to Rome. When we arrived at Rome we met even more family, Zia Lella, her son Paulo and his wife. We drive around Rome and had an overview of the colosseum, The Vatican, and Rome. We had dinner in a street patio where we had delicious pasta and ...
