    Day 2 in Venice

A travel blog entry by sandemac on Nov 20, 2013

We love our hotel and are soo comfortable. We have coffee and When walking back from the information centre, a man offers us a free trip to Morano Island on a private water taxi to see the glass factory. We accept the offer and know that it will be too good to be true. We get to the glass blowing factory and are greeted by a man and sat down to watch the glass blowing. It's just the 2 of ...

    ... self-serve dispensers!

Today we were heading directly for Venice so that we could spend as much of the day there as possible so our two stops were not anywhere particular but I did have the most amazing panini at one of the roadside stops that outdid any that I have ever eaten in Canada. Today, we walked more southeast toward the southern coast of the main island. We found some interesting shops and eventually wound our way back to St. Mark's square. While there, we visited Doge’s palace. This had exhibitions of the court cases and rooms in which they were held there. It was ...

Today we drove to Porto Cervo and walked through the marina where we saw huge fancy yachts and stores. A Ferrari cafe, Maserati bikes and cars, and chic boutiques. Then we drove the Costa Smeralda. Ad took our plane to Rome. When we arrived at Rome we met even more family, Zia Lella, her son Paulo and his wife. We drive around Rome and had an overview of the colosseum, The Vatican, and Rome. We had dinner in a street patio where we had delicious pasta and ...

... tourist helped us navigate. We found our stop and dragged our suitcases up the narrow street to finally find our hotel. It is NOT a hotel! It is more like a hostel. We couldn't find the sign and wandered around looking like idiots. Finally we saw it on the lamp outside the building in size 10 font. We walked into a small courtyard that I imagine was once used as a communal courtyard as there is an old well in the middle of it. We then found ...
