... the duffel was just a lightweight (easy-to-hide) carry-on bag, the bus was completely full. The driver didn't really hesitate, or give me any signs of grief, but I gave him 14 Rupee anyhow, just to alleviate any potential lingering haste he might have had. However, after paying him, when I turned to search for a place to sit, there was no vacancy, and the look on everyone's face was of a don't even try it tourist kind, so I decided to stand ...

He also mentioned that you always hear stories about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but that this was one of those few "right place, right time" moments. Whatever the reason was, I am forever grateful for it and for him (and his generosity). If the world were only full of people like him, I cannot imagine how good it would be. Another amazing day in the Seychelles

He was going to help me find a place to purchase a Sim Card for my cell phone. Unable to locate a place that was selling the Sim Cards, we continued onward to meet up with his friends. Up a little hill and into the woods (if you will), not too far from where we started, his friends were sitting on the side of a road. It felt slightly uncomfortable, but ...

... time for another provisioning run. Marcello and I take a walk up the road to Vitoria and find a few minimarkets that have frozen meat, fresh bread, bottled water, and beer. It’s great that we don’t need much as it’s a longer walk than we expected. Meanwhile, Lisa has inquired about a dive with the whale sharks at the resort ...

It didn't really matter, because under no circumstances was I going to do that... that is what husbands whose idea this was are for, right? And then it happened. Five minutes after we were in the water we saw our first shark silhouette in the distance and it came towards us until it was about 15 feet away and then it turned. It creeps dangerously close to my toes but I don't mind when it finally slurps up to my ankles leaving behind bubbley boots covering my feet. I take a long even breath exhaling slowly as I watch two football sized chestnut brown coconuts are trying to make it onto the beach. They take turns tottering on the smooth sand then toppling back awkwardly into the foamy surf. I wage mental bets on which giant coffeebean will reach the ...
