... Atlantic wall, field guns, and memorials. Then you have the opportunity to walk on to the beach. It is the strangest sensation to walk from a museum where you have been looking at photos and videos of fighting, death, and destruction... and then walk on to a beach where children are playing in the surf and kite surfers are out on the water enjoying the windy day. ... the cemetery or the beach below. The cemetery, if such a thing is possible, is a beautiful place. The lawn is immaculate as you would expect it to be and each grave marker appears so brilliantly white it would seem the marble is regularly polished.
There are so many of them. And all so young. Many of the markers have no name at all and simply read " Here rests in honored glory a comrade ...
... miss a cog and does some kinda wild roll through all the gears..lots of grinding sounds that end with solid CLUNK..and it is at speed....so I look behind me to see if there are bolts or an oil slick or smoke and so far nope I'm glad to report, but its weird to feel it and see the gear numbers roll through on the display.
Also....lot of rubber on the tires still ..yay....definitely wearing though. My bike accelerates about the same...but this ...
... as its fun and when I did hit the highway...its speed limit is 130 so the norm is about 140...I like to pass a bit...so 145 it was....the bike likes the speed but it does not handle the wind as well as the RT....makes no sense the K1600 is the flagship.
Either way in no time I was in Trouvaille. Its a cool town. right on the ocean...and has a river running through it. First stop.... a cafe in centre ville for a beer. I sat there ...
... Josh found Percy Gilman's grave first. He placed a flag and a Smiths Falls pin on top of his grave. He found Gordon Coburn's grave with the assistance of David. He left two pins on top of his gravestone.
Leaving, they left a Smiths Falls pin near a monument. The cab driver was waiting there for us to leave. You could see Juno Beach from there, faintly, but you could see it. I can just imagine that place 70 years ...
