After dinner, we walked a little further north to the Venetian hotel. As expected, the Venetian is Italian (specifically Venice) themed. With over 4000 hotel rooms, it is a pretty big hotel/casino. Inside, the ceiling is painted like a blue sky, and the shop fronts have been styled to look like Venetian boutique shop fronts. It is easy to see how one could spend days ...
... colours but I could have sworn the pyramid was blue instead of the black structure that greeted us. We walked for miles to find the check in point as we've learnt all the casinos are designed to make it as confusing as possible to find anything, thereby ensuring that you are stuck there and forced to wile away the time gambling.
Inside the Luxor they also had two exhibitions on, the Titanic, with various artefacts dug up from the ocean floor, ...
... angel of Route 66' and is credited with ensuring the mother road is still signposted to this day. Unfortunately Angel was unwell and wasn't in his shop. We bought a couple of t-shirts and had a little wander around town. It was a nice way to say goodbye to Route 66 and hopefully one day we'll come back to this very place to finish what we started. We crossed the state borders from Arizona into Nevada. We thought we'd stop at the Hoover Dam on the way and we stayed ...
... to play at a proper table - fine with me but the minimum bets were so high, it would mean playing one hand and that being it! I left him to it at this point and carried on wandering around, when I can back I found out he had a lucky streak and won some of our money back! On this note we decided it was a good time to leave!
Vegas is an amazing place, with something for everyone and we can not wait to come back and visit it ...
It was up at 7am for me at least anyway to get things ready for our trip at 9, everyone could have really done with a lie in really. The butterflies in my tummy were starting to kick in but I was keeping a brace face for the kids.
We were picked up and taken to Vegas air strip and had to watch a DVD about safety which never really agrees with me. The kids however couldn't wait to get ...
