... close between 2 & 5. Feels weird to walk across the "Plaza Mayor". And hear your name called. "Mom jeans" (as shorts) are totally "in" with young teenage girls. With European 220 volt power (and a converter) my iphone will fully charge in about 20 minutes Young teen girls are the same everywhere. Not a chance of eating a meal until 8 PM but you can drink all evening if you wish. Vending machines have cans of beer for 1 ...

... quite long. Then came the city. It is much more difficult to follow the yellow arrows in the city as some May be on the sidewalk, walls, trees, etc. sometimes they are even hidden by parked cars. Then we have to remember that in the large cities there are plaques cemented in the sidewalks. So that helps. We arrived at the municipal albergue about 1 and the line was out the door. Fortunately we got beds for 5 euros which is great. We showered, and went for guess what???? A ...

20 steps to coffee and brekky and hit the road just before 7. Today is all hard surfaces, some bitumen or rocky country roads. No mud, that's the morning bonus. 24 kms, freaking freezing though it says 16 degrees the wind chill blows that away,sunny and we could see our shadows today.

As as we walk again through the rural country side, we notice the thinning of pilgrims as the Irish have mostly returned home ...

Not much new to say, except that today we left La Rioja and ceremoniously entered Castilla y León - an autonomous region which contains many provinces...the internal government of Spain seems very complicated. So we are now in Burgos province, which is within Castilla y León. La Rioja is also an autonomous region, as is Navarra (which is also Basque), but then there are the Basque states (which are separate and autonomous)! ...

... So, the bus ride was only two hours long and was the first sophisticated mode of transportation we'd taken advantage of in weeks. Our Mercedes Benz bus was quite comfortable and our feet thanked us. The countryside was nice, but we feel as of we didn't miss too much. We've vowed to come back someday and hike this portion.
