The Long Road Trip - Salt Flats

A travel blog entry by mnasf on Aug 10, 2011

... br> We saw frozen springs as we got to the top. It did not feel all that cold when we got out of the van, but it wasn't warm either.

We stopped at the top of the pass. I do not reacall how tall it was, but I believe it was near 13 or 14 thousand feet. Althought the elevation was high, none of us got altitude sickness. However, I felt like if I stayed on top of the mountain for long I would get a bad headache. I ...

As I said yesterday, this adventure just keeps getting better and better. Today the group were all wide awake and already packing their tents away when Muggings here suddenly awoke!! It was 07h35 and breakfast was at 8am in a restaurant in town. I was rushing around like mad trying to get everything packed away and onto the bike. In Salta waiting for me were Pooley and Egg, a fab couple from Manchester who I first met in Uruguay. In fact, they were the very first people I met on my travels.

Pooley and Egg had the fantastic brainwave ...

... 2 months it had started to feel like home, with everything very familiar and easy, and we knew it was only going to get harder from this point on. Places like Bolivia are much harsher environments, nobody speaks English, the accomodation is much more basic etc. Argentina had been a great place to really start our travelling experience, but it definetely feels like time to challenge ourselves a bit more.

      And so on to Chile..
