... back to lighten the load. I did fit my wunderlich CNC levers –much to the amazement of the he,an campers next to me. So I extolled the virtues of German engineering much to their amusement. A short run into town started with a iffy moment as I turned out of the camp site onto the wrong side of the road - luckily for me another bike was coming the other way at a reasonable pace. ... us on our preferred arrival date, but Laura booked us in to arrive last Tuesday. After a nerve wracking 25-mile drive inland from the Autovia along twisting roads up the gorge, we reached busy Potes and, a mile further on, our destination where the lovely Laura checked us in and personally showed us a choice of pitches. The site is terraced and through the trees, tents and caravans we can see the majestic mountains - worth the drive here! Top of our 'must see' list ...

    ... and central massifs.

The walk wasnn't particularly taxing with the only climb a steady one at the start out of Poncebos, a tiny straggle of buildings, in to the wide and mostly bare early stages of the gorge. Gradually the gorge became narrower and its walls thick with vegetation, creating greater contrast with the alpine heights above. The last stages of the walk were probably the prettiest; as we descended nearer the ...
