This was a tedious day. First we laid in the sun til we got hot, then we swam in the Caribbean to cool off. Repeat that about 5 times. Throw in lunch on the beach with our feet in the sand somewhere in the middle. After so much tedium, we retired to our cabana for a siesta.
Afterward - shopping on Avenida 5. Hope we found something …
We came back to Las Palapas today. It is great to be here. It is the perfect beach resort - peaceful, beautiful, casual. Our cabana is great. We threw our bags in the cabana, changed, & hit the beach. I spent many peaceful hours lounging, people watching, drinking margaritas, & reading.
Lunch we had a wonderful ceasar …
... swim so close to you, we also saw a sea snake and a shoal of sardines. The reefs at the bottom are incredible, just like you see in pictures with lots of weird and wonderful brightly coloured corals and other odd looking plants! Among the passengers on the boat there was a Swedish family, an Austrian Mum and daughter and a Mexican-American family who were there on the Disney cruise?! ...
... sink hole with fresh water and several hundreds of tourists trying to immerse their sweaty bodies!! Good opportunity to take a cool beer.
Day 2 - a quiet day in Playa to secure an additional bag to accommodate all the additional bits and pieces collected en route over the last 6 weeks. We will still have the same weight but at least we will be able to pick up the bags.
Day 3 - our final trip to Mayan ruins took in two sites, and another cenote, with clean green ...
Mexico had finally come into its own and it was hot!
A short bus ride and we were in Playa del Carmen and a minibus later we went to Tulum Mayan ruins which were really interesting, but hot! Had I mentioned that!!!
A long hot minibus later I was back at the hotel in the coldest pool imaginable!!
After dinner we went to a bar that had swings around the bar instead of seats and the biggest mango daiquiri ...

The grounds are gorgeous, the beach is the best, location is perfect, cabanas are cute & very private.
