      Cozumel and Christmas day

We wake for Christmas after a shocker sleep. The hostel guests get home quite early in the morning and are making a racquet of noise slamming doors and yelling. But after falling back asleep eventually, we sleep right past the time we were intending getting the ferry to Cozumel. We wake Purto and go out to discuss with the boss about leaving a day early as we are off to Belize tonight. He has n issues despite not even knowing we were there tonight and had ...

He started explaining the cenotes and how they were the only freshwater source in Mexico. They have 25,000 cenotes in just the Yucatán itself and about 7000 are connected by underwater rivers.

... to book the crappiest hostel on the island as everywhere appeared to be full. When we arrived our fears where confirmed, many people from our boat roamed the streets having no luck finding a room and having to grab a ****** dorm just for the night. We said goodbye to our new friends Hannake & Huib but made loose plans to find each other for drinks later. Braden came with us to suss out the hostel we had booked, the infamous hostel with the worst name on planet ...

Is it all over so soon? It seems like yesterday we were sat on a plane, the remnants of 2012 and those Christmas festivities still in full flow, saying goodbye to the grey skies and rainy days of London... and hello to Mexico, Mayans and merrymaking.

What a couple of weeks it's been. There's a big sigh of resignation as we sink down into those purple airline seats, spotting Lee from Steps who'd also been on our outbound flight, ...
