Cruise - Day 8

A travel blog entry by argyles on Apr 04, 2015

... The landscape Lanzarote was very baron, although the port was very nice. We had some good deals with perfumes/aftershaves in today's port. The prices were significantly lower than in the UK, and here on board Britannia. On our discovery, we found some cannons on the beach in this port. (Pictures soon. *Hopefully*). I'm still not quite sure what they were for though. We had some drinks at one of the quayside bars before returning to the ship mid/later afternoon. Despite ...

Next we saw el groco. A green body of water some folks attribute to green olivine a semi precious stone. On the opposite side the very blue Atlantic was quite the contrast

pics to follow.
Also I'm including a pic of where we had dinner on our first trip on the qmii with Sandra and Eric. And another with Cathy and Marc. Sweet memories!!

... Heidi swore all the way up (not helped by the fact it took me more than an hour to find the start of the walk!) but agreed it was well worth the views. We did also manage to do an excellent day's guided tour of the island (Lanzarote really isn't that big!) and see the main sites.
All in all a difficult week turned out to be the best place in the run up to the funeral, the only other time I'd been to Lanzarote was actually with Granny. Happy ...

... 20 minute taxi to Costa Teguise, the resort where we are staying, its to the north-east of the island and slightly quieter than the bustling Puerto del Carmen. Its hard to believe we are situated just off the west coast of Africa! Lanzarote itself its tiny, only 60km in length and 20km wide.

We check into the El Guarapo apartments, and are pleasantly surprised, not quite knowing what we were in for (cheap-accommodation hunters that we are). Apart from no air-con, the place ...
