As we lay back on the pillows in the bed on the first night in our new cabin we both had a peaceful, easy feeling (I must stop doing that!!) and woke at 8am refreshed after an undisturbed night (except a toilet trip at 4am but that's an age thing!!)

Once inside we looked for the ticket booth selling the guided tours to the upper section of the palace, which is still used occasionally by Spain's King and Queen. This was our all day trip. We used the Hilton transfer to the city (7euros) and was dropped by the Torre del Oro tower. It was warm. The river was pleasant to be by. All of the Canary Islands a total volcanic, on Lanzarote there are 110 volcanoes and more than 300 craters. There are no trees to speak of and the center of the island is jut pretty much bare volcanic slopes, in the colors of brown, red and black. ... They are clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Although each journey has been quite long, they are not unpleasant. We travel towards Tarefa, a small town who primary industry is wind. The number of wind generators we pass on the way is staggering. They line the hills and go for kilometres and kilometres.
