Let´s Get EXTREME!

... After our tour was over, we sat down and drank a cup of coffee
from the farm. We think it may be just because we had seen all the work
behind it, but that coffee was absolutely delish. On our bus ride back,
we befriended an Austrian kid named Manny, whom we invited to come and
eat dinner with us. While we were waiting for our big fish platters, we
started talking about the usual. Manny asked us where we were from, and
we said a small town in New ...

... at
it, as well as live music, so we sat down. Pretty soon, a breakdancing
crew came and started performing in the street for us. (And I love
watching live dancing almost as much as I love food and almost as much
as Teddy loves beer.) They were incredible, doing flips off each other
and bending themselves into ridiculous pretzels. They even had two
really cute little boys of about 7 who were doing some amazing stuff.
When they came ...

A death defying experience

... br>I burst into tears as soon as I had reached the top. It was by far the hardest thing I had ever experienced physically. My brain just couldnt comprehend the fact that I was standing on top of a live volcano. I hardly looked down the crater, I just clung to a rock, gasping for breath with Julian standing to one side of me, patting my arm. We all were dirty, sweaty and tired.

The strangest thing up on that crater were the bugs. These bugs were unlike some we had ever seen ...

... spending all my time going from ‘must see’ to ‘must see’
made me feel like one of those tourist who are all over Central America
who was just ticking box’s so they could go home and say, “there, done
it”. With all these factors weighed up I left Guatemala with the crew I
had met and never saw the ‘must see’ Creator Lake.
Somehow
there ended up being a troop of seven of us ...

Tired on an island

... and hearty, it was far from sedentary - surfing and swimming for hours on end really takes it out of you, and moving on to our next activity without some recovery time was probably a tad ambitious. Thats the problem with dwindling time-scales though: you try and pack in as much as you can in order to make the most of it. We certainly didn't make the most of Ometepe though, but hopefully the rest will stand us in good stead for the rest of Nicaragua and beyond!
Kayaking to Monkey Island

... enjoying my time here and I think it is a wonderful way to spend these last days here in Nicaragua. My days consist of lounging around in a hammock with a good book, drinking fresh coconut juice straight from the tree, meeting other travelers and occassionally kayaking on the lake.

There are two islands that I love to visit... they are known as monkey island because they ...

... slipping at least ten other times. It was a good work out when your knees are trembling coming down the hill. It was very humid and sunny and it rained for part of the climb. I put my shoes which were covered with mud and wet on the steps so I wouldn´t get the floor through the eating area muddy and when I went back later, they were gone. Someone had stolen my shoes which also had my orthotics. This is the second time my shoes have been stolen. I ...

Hola dear family and amigos, here was last week also Easter-week and that is really bad in San Juan del Sur, and that was the reason i visited Ometepe, the worlds largest Island in a freshwater lake {Lake Nicaragua is actually also the largest lake of south and nortamerica}. ... be a simple hike through a nature reserve. It would take 15 minutes, tops. As is often the case when you get directions in another language, we went the wrong way. We ended up walking along the beach and kept going as it got rockier and rockier and we were mostly scrambling around on big boulders. Toward the end, it was just easier to walk through the water. We did finally get to the beach, good moods tenously intact, but with little time to rest as the sun was about to set. So, we headed ...
