      ... pier that we were originally to dock out apparently had been "taken out by bad weather" so they had a makeshift dock ready for the ferry. The ferry by the way, probably held about 350-400 passengers, and also the lower level was for cars and cargoe. The ferry was docked on the new pier, by throwing the rope around a rock on the land.       ... the backyard. Apparently, Batad is littered with these traditional houses, almost every family maintaining at least one, part of the World Heritage thing. This particular house had been part of the (Rita's guesthouse) family for generations. It was small, but inside was a veritable explosion of woodcarvings and artifacts.
