Panamericana Norte Km 1213 Mancora, Peru, 073, 51-73-25-8240
We took a taxi from Paracas to the Panamerican highway and then hailed down a local bus which took us to Ica. A shortage of cash meant walking into the centre of Ica with our packs before we got a taxi, it was a pretty intimidating walk and we kept catching the word "gringos" and felt like we were being stared at so we ducked into a cafe and Chloe and Katie waited with the bags while Neil went to the bank. Once the cash was in hand we hailed a cab to drive us out to Huacachina. Ten minutes la...
Huacachina, Huacachina, Peru 2taylorsWe took a Cruz del Sur nightbus from Lima to Mancora, they´re one of the most expensive companies but Katie thought it would be worth it to have a decent nights sleep - unfortunately the recline mechanism on her seat was broken so everytime she put it down it would slowly push her back to the upright position - not happy but at least there was one English movie and bus bingo to pass the time! We arrived in Mancora and were met by a Tuc Tuc who took us to a wooden hostel with reed roof a littl...
Mancora, Peru 2taylorsUp at 6 in the morn in Lima to catch a bus to a town called Ica. We booked our tickets with Cruz Del Sur and we were right to. Fully reclining chairs and breakfeast served with a movie thrown in for good measure. The eight hours went fast but the destruction caused by the earthquake we saw in some of the towns on the way was terrible. Made you wanna just get out and help. The only thing standing in most of the houses were the four concrete pillars on each corner that were re-inforced by rebar...
Huacachina, Peru conlou... the srufers, and the horses. We thought about surfing (having a lesson) but there were too many surfers and not enough space to do it in... saw a lot of bumping into each other.. and the waves were pretty rough, so we decided against it... even swimming was quite exhausting as the undercurrent kept trying to pull you under, and then the waves would crash around you! Fun, but tiring!

WE bought some fruit from the local fruit man... will have a competition to see if ...
Máncora, Piura, Peru nickiandal... although the sun gets through my vest and leaves a mark where my bra is, very scary) but my shoulders, arms and neck tanned, despite slapping on factor 30. We think dave has reacted to it though, as he has a fat lip (nothing to do with me officer) and a bit of a rash on his neck, so it's back to the factor 25 cream for him.

This morning we hopped in a mototaxi (aka tuk tuk) with Shirley who works on reception, to go to the mercado to buy food. We've bought some ...
Mancora, Peru 50odd... old city about a mile away! At least we have a sign heading in the right direction.
Out into the green covered mountains there are fir and eucalyptus trees here. Once again it is great riding in the mountains, up and down with twists and turns through ever changing valleys. In one valley it is bare rock and semi dessert, in the next we see mist and cloud rolling in and it is filled with cloud forest, banana ...
Mancora, Peru pearcy... on a kite-surfing holiday. They of course bought us drinks, and the remainder of the night consisted of more drinking, a whole lot of dancing, making some new friends, and finally heading to bed at around 6am. Good times.
And the next morning was when we realised our cameras (mine and Barb´s) had been stolen the night before, probably in the nightclub, and out of Barb´s bag. Damn, damn, damn. But of course a trip to South America is not complete ...
Mancora, Peru becstar26... and by request, gave our email addresses to the peruvian authorities.. Arrived in Mancora about 11am and Russ was exausted ...
Mancora, Peru michelle_russ... too. After cooking in every night in Lima we decided to splash out on a couple of nice meals, which personally included a lovely steak, a delicious swordfish steak and an unbelievable tuna steak. Mmmm, steak. The latter ******* spent four days eluding me - it was probably the thing I was most looking forward to in Mancora after four and a half months of wanting one (not to mention the disastrous munch we got on our first day here when my ...
Mancora, Peru rorydMancora is a small town in northern Peru stretching along 3km of the Pan-American Highway. I was awake when the man sitting next to me on the bus motioned to me that the next stop was for Mancora. I, along with a couple of other backpackers, got off. It was still dark as it was only after 5 in the morning, but daylight was starting to creep through. I looked around for a taxi to take me to Hospedaje Crillon, but there were none. There were only ...
