145 Camp Road, Otago Peninsula Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand, 64-3-476-16-16
No, it's not keep left (though I did make a left onto the wrong lane once during today’s journey, but quickly corrected myself. Thank goodness for cars in front of me to follow) The lesson for today was…DO NOT ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GPS! After picking up our rental car, Gillian and I were very excited to get on the road…a little nervous…but VERY excited. We headed to a supermarket and packed up a cooler for our 5 hour drive down to Dunedin with a stop in Moeraki to see some...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand kengandgill After our harrowing journey of the day before, this morning we woke up to the sounds of sheep and birds. Our beautiful room at Larnach Castle comes complete with a balcony that overlooks the bay. While Gillian sleeps, I get up early to wake up to sunrise over the peninsula and spend some time wrapped in my blanket catching up the blog.
Today we toured the castle and read about its history. Its New Zealand's only castle and has had many owners over the years. Its beautiful. But, it's th...

... sorts of cool social activies. So far we walked up Baldwin Street (the steepest street in the world), had soup and rolls, and went on a cafe tour. There is a common room called Manawa with 2 floors, TVs, couches, pool and foozball tables, books, movies, computers. There are almost always people hanging out in Manawa. My flat is only 5 minutes from campus and about 10-15 minutes to downtown Dunedin. Overall, I am extremely pleased with Toroa.
<br ...
Dunedin, New Zealand sps5032... FUR SEALS! :) Most of the fur seals that we could see there were pups that were too young and small to go out hunting with the adults. They were sitting around on the cliffs waiting for their mothers to return and feed them. Using the time to be quite interested in the weird humans looking down from above as it turned out. After yet ANOTHER climb up the same hill (heart-attack anyone? :D) we returned to Dunedin and... did NOT crash into bed exhausted. You might ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand wolftrails... history as well. We did a walking circuit of the town looking in a few places and stopping for refreshment at a place that also had Wi-Fi access which always helps. Back on the road we stopped off at the main bungee jump site on the Kawara River and the famous 19th century bridge which is often photographed and marks the site of the alleged first ever commercial bungee business set up in 1988 by A J Hackett ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand waspey... someone I know . Ha Ha!!!! We picked up another German guy and then set off out to the peninsula. On the way we picked a couple of French girls at a hostel, which was way out of town on the peninsula road. Now that everyone was on board we drove to the Albatross Center, which was right out on the end of the peninsula. When we arrived it was about to close so Tom suggested we get something to eat for later as there would be nowhere else. Tom handed out binoculars to ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand altheclem... road is residential so anyone with a garage attached to their house must have super-glu braking system. Believe me, it is flaming steep!! we walked up the 350metre long concrete road but it was hard. We had to lean forward at a ridiculous angle to stay upright! we were knackered by the end of it but thankfully there's a bench halfway, outside someone's house where you can rest and re-pump your heart with life. Next destination: Te Anau (pronounced Tee Annooo). Love us xxx
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand mrsdp... How nice! They pump the different types of chocolate around the factory in large metal pipes, yellow for milk chocolate, red for dark and white for errr, white chocolate! I thought this was much better than the Birmingham factory tour, as you got to see more of the actual factory and production of the bars. The Bourneville one is going in a bit more of a theme park type direction and you only get a glimpse of the factory floor! (But no creme egg cars in Dunedin either ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand phileasbeck... of studying here...either a masters by thesis only (1 yr) or, (if the PhD committee thinks i have enough research, which i'm skeptical about) a doctorate which would be 3 years. in order to even apply to the school you have to have already been in contact with the one or two professors you want to study under. i talked to the professor in the zoology dept the other day and dropped off a resume with some recommendation letters. (hey, it can't hurt ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand katelin... is quite a few too. I don't know why I was excited about seeing them - I think it was because of this whole Geography thing I've got going on at the moment - I forgot how much I enjoy it, stupid a levels making me forget!

But we still had things to see - so we headed off again. Its strange down in the South because of the wind - all of the trees grow at funny angles - like they are bending over - the vista is pretty odd because of it - and there is like zero radio ...
