    ... B&B locations ahead of time, with only a few in Germany that we'll do on the fly.
    We got lots of good advice from a variety of friends that have been to these places before about what to see, what not to see, and tips and ideas to make the trip easier. We shall see how effective their insights prove to be.
    Regardless, we expect to have a great time and are looking forward to a real experience.

    ... We met a lovely couple in Deschutes brewery, who hatted to us for over an hour about where to go, our trip, our lives, they were so lovely. After them, everyone who heard about our trip had hints and tips and advice to give. We have a busy few weeks ahead!!     Maribel and Gabe arrived in sticky-hot Portland Monday evening. Aunt Karen and Aun Dawns, while thrilled that they'd arrived were not thrilled with the idea of cooking dinner in 98 degrees, so we all agreed on eating out -- salad and pizza at Vincente's on Hawthorne. After settling in at home, we each took a seat at the kitchen table in anticipation of a nightcap card game.     ... and public transportation tickets are available here at the visitor center. After purchasing tickets we boarded a light- rail train which took us through neighborhoods to the lower Southwest Waterfront Terminal. We rode the Portland Arial Tram to Oregon Health Sciences University's Kohler Pavilion where we "took in" the panoramic view of the he city from the observation deck.
