Longest Train Ride Ever

... scene of a small bridge arching over the deep river with mountains standing on either side decorated by red, orange, yellow and green trees and houses with red roofs stacked along the side.  I wanted to live there and I had no idea where we were.  Soon the sun melted behind the horizon spilling pinks, purples and tangerines upon the blue sky.  Before we reached Geneve the sky turned black and nothing could be seen of the landscape.
When I got off in Geneve, I ...

Lovely Lake Como

... good for what you pay!! And awesome for a backpacker!!
Went for drinks at Frank's Bar which Patrick who owns the hotel recommended. Turned out to be a pretty trendy cocktail joint
where you pay for your drink at 1 place then get it at another. 10 Euro for a beverage no matter what you had so naturally I ordered a long island ice tea!!!

Milan was pretty much just another big European city. Not exciting enough to be interesting and not small and quaint enough to be charming.

Checked out the Duomo whichis the 3rd largest church in the world and a huge gothic building that was ...

... featuring some very pretty gardens and fountains. We enjoyed some gelato as we walked along the lakeside gardens. After an hour break here, we took the short drive to Como. Como is also another beautiful lakeside town. We shared dinner and enjoyed a nice conversation with Stan and Johanna from Colorado. We are now in Italy and we are looking forward to the next seven days in this country.

... us up two nights in a row and took us out to fantastic places for apperitivo (appetizers/drinks) and dinners. Thanks again, Dino, Giorgio, and Michele! We also took a ferry to Bellagio and spent a few hours shopping and enjoying the gorgeous tip of Lake Como. We wish we could say we saw George Clooney, but unfortunately, not.

Beautiful Como!

Friday morning I hoped on the train from Strasbourg, France, all the way through Switzerland, and then to Como, Italy. The scenery through Switzerland was unbelievable....snow capped mountains, little towns along the lakes meandering through the mountains...it was awesome. My train ticket was supposed to get me all the way through to Como, but at the last Swiss stop at the border of Switzerland and Italy ...

... check out the hotels but was not impressed by the lack of B&B's which we were hoping to use after the tour on our way to Felines. I saw a lot of banks and other public buildings but most of the shops were closed. However I did stumble upon this wonderful cathedral called Chesus which was also closed but it soared up so high in the air on its sandstone foundations. I walked slowly all around it and headed back to the pier. According to Anne the boat trip was well worth ...

... euro;2 fee, and walked around for 45 minutes before they closed at 1pm. Then, we got on the train to Como (Lago di Como), a well-known area in the north near the mountains. George Clooney recently bought some property there, so after the train ride, we caught up with him (he had the hydroplane ready for us at the Aero Club), and hung out. Or we caught lunch at a cafe surrounded by German tourists and a group of stereotypical old ...
