First full day!

Update on the very first day:

We got in on time, but the airline lost one of Kaitlin's bags, so we had to spend a while searching for that. By the time we got to our apartment, we were almost punch-drunk with tiredness. We get in the tiny little elevator with ALL our bags and are laughing uncontrollably, so when the door opens on our floor, we literally fall out of the elevator, nearly crying from laughing so hard, and there is our senora, Maru, looking ...

The Beginning of the Adventure

... extremely vigilent as I have heard many horror stories from fellow travellers who have lost passports, credit cards and many Euros to pickpockets. I now where my backpack on the front whenever I travel in a crowded area. That is all I have to say on my adventures in Madrid, for now. I will follow up this entry with my day trips from Madrid to the enchanting medevil towns of Segovia and Toledo. I miss you all, but am having an awesome time and meeting lots of fellow travellers..

Spain: Guide to studying overseas

... maybe that's why its the birthplace of Flamenco, a beautiful flowing dance. If you are there in April, you can enjoy a week of festivities at the Feria de abril de Sevilla. Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and is home to the largest aquarium in Europe, El Oceanográfico. Being a coastal city near the Baleaeric Islands, it also provides ferry services out to Ibiza. www.world-joblist.com

Welcome to Madrid

... of the main shopping strips. When we had first headed out we had been surprised at how quiet the streets were. We quickly worked out that the streets had previously been quite because we had set out during siesta time. The streets of Madrid were now brimming with people. We wandered along and Belle spotted some boots she liked the look of in a shop window and low and behold they fit, so Belle finally managed to get the boots she had been hoping to find in Rome. We next ...

... park, so numerous bridges, water features and fountains were also contained within the perimeter. My father and I had the most wonderful time walking through this gem, that ************e was occupying or even new about! Maybe we should go into writing travel guides, cause this is a must see in Madrid!! Leaving Juan Carlos I Park, we felt our time in Madrid was well spent and nothing missed worth seeing. See what ...

Day One

... schelpped our bags to Hostal Triana. That trek took quite awhile a little longer than I expected but we arrrived happily into the arms of Victor the Front Desk attendant. He helped us up to our room and we were happy with the accomodations. Victor was helpful and made our visit pleasant, helping us with some details that were above and beyond. A nice hot shower does tons for your attitude. After cleaning up we hit the town to try to ...

A Day in the Park

... He told us he was working taking care of kids in the Madrid Book Fair which apparently was being held in the Park. We left the hot stone stairs and he showed us the way to the Book Fair since his break was over. The book fair was neatly organized by huts into subjects. Every subject you could possibly think of was there, in the rows and rows of book stands. Ed and I mainly stopped in the travel book stands which had all of ...

Salsa Dancing Sucks

... morning, we were to meet up with Rochelle in the lobby so all three of us could ride together in a taxi to the airport. When we got there, she was nowhere in sight so we didn't bother to wait around. We got to the airport pretty early for our 10am flight to Frankfurt on Spanair. When we arrived in Frankfurt, we pretty much had to run to our next gate to catch our connecting flight on Lufthansa back to LA. 11 long hours later, we were back home in LA.
