October 12, Sunday Gorge, Waterfall and Antayla

This morning we left (almost forgetting to pay for our dinner)!! Firstly, the bus took us to the Saklikent Gorge. It was a great gorge – we walked through it – Craig venturing further through the wet bits. Once again a lovely day weather wise.

We also went to spend 20 minutes with Doctor Fish – where we put our feet into a tank and let the little fish ...

... Russian mafia come up here to eliminate the competition?



On the way back down we ride through a narrow ravine. There is an old stone arched bridge and another strange restaurant built out over the ravine stream supported on very fragile looking poles.



Another trip down to the wifi cafe for cappuccino rounds out the day. Tomorrow we head north back towards Greece.

The owner Ali is very proud of his creation. At this quiet time of year he runs a one-man show, cooking, serving and chatting. We are the only patrons tonight.

Those on the 2nd and 3rd rows of the grid start pipping their horns at Go-minus-2 in case the front runners have dozed off. Cheeky drivers who fancy their chances will try to underpass up the hard shoulder or right-turn-only inside lane. The basic rule is that if you have your front bumper more than a centimetre ahead of your rival the road is yours.

... Anatalya and after more GPS misguidance, found Aspendos (Aspestos is my way of remembering it) which was an ancient Greco-Roman city. founded around 1000 BC by Greeks on the Eurymedon River. The amphitheatre has been renovated and is still used today. (More pics)
