Great location for the ski lift, we were self catering, this suited us coz we only needed a breakfast coz food was so cheap. rooms were quite big also. Small shop on site and Restaurant so all was quite handy.

As the storms battered down on Ireland we headed to Dublin airport, with high wind warnings everywhere we still remained hopeful that our flight would take off! Parked up and on shuttle bus to the terminal we became more aware of the wind conditions as planes precariously landed, and the next one had to abort! The shuttle driver was great craic, …

Rising above the church is a hill with fortress foundations clearly on show. A Bulgarian flag flew from the top. It was still very sunny and needless to say, the views I got from the top were amazing. Luben pointed out to me two tiny little churches on the mountainsides opposite and told me there are many more in the local area. ...

... leave. There was a smaller church as well, but unfortunately it wasn't open.

The old refectory was closed too, but running round its outside wall was a famous and very well-preserved mural of the history of the monastery, painted in 1846, it shows in colourful detail a panorama of the monastery grounds.

I would have loved more time here but I knew we had to move on to Asenovgrad Fortress.

Well it is that time of year again, ski time! Off we went to Dublin airport, and parked up in blue carpark, swear we have our own parking spot now ! Flight took off on time and we arrived in Berlin for an overnight stop in the Meinenger hotel. Few beer and made a nice meal in the communal kitchen, Tac and Dylan even helped out with the serving! Wee bottle wine and it was bedtime. Next morning we flew to Sofia, Bulgaria. As we had done this trip last year, we easily made our ...

... impressive gorge, turning off to climb the winding road in to the Rhodopi mountains which border Bulgaria. There are 25 or so Pomak villages scattered around this range, inhabited by Muslims speaking Greek, Bulgarian and Turkish. We look out for a place to park for the night, eventually we came to a small church sat on top of a small hill, we pulled around the back of the hill onto a track. The views from this spot are lovely, it's a shame it is going ...
