Great location for the ski lift, we were self catering, this suited us coz we only needed a breakfast coz food was so cheap. rooms were quite big also. Small shop on site and Restaurant so all was quite handy.

As the storms battered down on Ireland we headed to Dublin airport, with high wind warnings everywhere we still remained hopeful that our flight would take off! Parked up and on shuttle bus to the terminal we became more aware of the wind conditions as planes precariously landed, and the next one had to abort! The shuttle driver was great craic, …

Rising above the church is a hill with fortress foundations clearly on show. A Bulgarian flag flew from the top. It was still very sunny and needless to say, the views I got from the top were amazing. Luben pointed out to me two tiny little churches on the mountainsides opposite and told me there are many more in the local area. ...

The old refectory was closed too, but running round its outside wall was a famous and very well-preserved mural of the history of the monastery, painted in 1846, it shows in colourful detail a panorama of the monastery grounds.

I would have loved more time here but I knew we had to move on to Asenovgrad Fortress.

... city centre bus station and bought our bus tickets to Pamporovo. A light lunch while we waited and we were soon on our way. 4 hours later, we arrived in a snowy Pamporovo. We checked in to our apartment in Grand Monastery. We bought some brekkie groceries in the supermarket and then settled down for the night, after a beer or 2 of course! Next morning we excitedly got up, breakfast sorted and headed to the Malina ski centre to collect our skiis and lift passes. We got ...

It's still raining this morning. We are heading for Xanthi which is famous for it's old quarter, once wealthy from tobacco it boasts fine mansions and historic houses set in into the hill side on winding cobbled streets.
The rain is light until all of a sudden there is a torrential downpour, it's so heavy we are only able to manage a crawling speed, so we can see the road.
At Xanthi we parked and had lunch, we could hear the storm in the ...
