    Today we have returned to Italy and reached Cagliari the capital of Sardinia. It is an odd little place with the old wall city perched on a hilltop overlooking the port to the south and the urban sprawl of the modern city crunched up against its walls on the other sides. The port authorities don't want you walking around the port so they provide a free shuttle bus to take you on a five minute ride to the port gates.     The café we went to for lunch was originally used as a post office and still have the places that the horses would drink from at the back of the shop (see picture also). There was a crypt under the shop with bones in, but we couldn't see it because it's to dangerous getting down there.
    On the way to the ship we bought some all natural and yummy Sardinian sweets made of almond which are locally grown. Everything was made from almond.

    ... as clear as we have had, but very refreshing.
    Then a short walk to see the flamingos on the ancient roman salt pans. (The romans used the salt for preserving their goods-very extensive).
    Back on the bus and home for a siesta.
    Thank god graham'had a calzone.
    Ithought I might get a bite about the tea Mike!
    Off to Spain /Salamanca tomorrow and catching up with Lorraine on Saturday.

    ... tea. Jeff had his cake but I had cup of tea. It is really big here with lots of specialized tea houses.
    African men arevery prominent as well as pakistani. There are quite a few alimentary that only sell middle eastern/asian products.
