... in a beach front bungalow which is cheap and nice. There is a really laid back vibe here. The staff are cool, usually just chillin in the bar/cafe which is made entirely of bamboo, has the hippie floor tables and candals, pictures of bob marley and a distinct smell commonly associated with hippies.
Yesterday, I (Lauren) had my first Thai massage which was more of a ...

Ko Lanta, Thailand anniedavey... but off she went in a my pack-a-mack and came back 5 minutes later clutching two made up pot noodles under the raincoat, bloody brilliant and hilariously funny to see. The day after the storm we walked along the beach and spotted a sea turtle, getting very excited we got up to it only to realise it was lying there dead! It kind of acted as a metaphor for Ko Lanta looked cool and interesting from a distance but when you got up close it was just dead!

We ended ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand therobsblogs... of Europeans we met a lovely Swedish/German couple called Inga and Fabian who taught us a few new snorkeling tricks during the trip. Our driver took us to Viking Cave, then to Pi-Leh bay and anchored at Loh Samah Bay where we got to see some amazing brightly coloured tropical fish, there were so many to mention except Fabian and James saw a huge Moray Eel lurking down in the depths. There were so many of the smaller yellow and black striped fish near the surface ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand pixelchick... urgent action was necessary to combat my homesickness and the best thing I could come up with was to sign on for a week of intensive Muay Thai training at the Lanta Gym. So on Jan. 21st I moved into my new room at the gym and started a program of 3 - 5 hours of training every day. Turns out that kicking and punching things is the perfect antidote for traveler's dysphoria. It also provided an invaluable opportunity to hang out with a gang of Muay Thai boxers and ...
Ho! Ho! Ho!
Krabi, Thailand amidlifecrisis... claws. Two of the little critters locked into a gladiatorial battle for supremacy and we watched in amusement. The victor stood strong, raising his yellow claw proudly while the loser scurried off sideways. This was a great day trip and I highly recommend it although cannot remember the cost (pretty cheap I think). Stay tuned for the best pick up ever, Costa Del Phi Phi, a thieving monkey and "The Beach"......
Ko Lanta, Thailand lekka... it was found by a cousin of our guide, who was trying to follow bees to their hive. When the bees disappeared into an opening in the rocks, he followed. Amazed at the size of the place, he wandered around until eventually the cigarette lighter he was using to light his way started to run out of gas. The solution...use the remaining gas to ignite one of his sandals, and use that as his torch! That same day we passed through acres of rubber plantations and got to ...
Ko Lanta, Thailand midniteramblersTo this place Siboya, I have been planning to go for a long time before we left for our China Journey and although it wasn't like what I imagined in many respects it was even better. The island of Siboya is 2 or 3 kilometers off the coast of Krabi and it is about 16 kilometers long and 3 wide. In my innocence I thought that to get to the island we ...
Krabi, Thailand williwinkle... John and I had both been looking forward to checking out the coral reefs located thểre, and it was in Phi Phi that the movie "The Beach" was shot. The only good thing about the rain storm was that it brought in some waves to the tranquil bay and John and I body surfed them all morning. The rain also brought in stonés, shells, and othẻr dangẻrously hard objects, so we were pretty banged up by ...
