Nice Beach Resort was clean and very friendly and helpful. Rooms were air conditioned and restaurant food was delicious. We were able to hire scooters from the resort which made it easy to explore the Island.

    Do not stay here!

Although the service is wonderful and the location is great, the rooms are vile and dirty. They are not simply outdated, they are run down and unkempt. Unless they do a major overhaul of their rooms there are far better accommodations for less money around. Absolutely do not recommend this place.

Touring around the Island on Scooters

We hired 4 Scooters for the day @ 200 Baht. Me dinkied on the back of David and Trent on the back of Carly and took off, free and easy, down to the southern tip of Ko Lanta, to the National Park.....we had to pay an entrance fee of 1280 Baht for the 6 of us.

Small grey monkeys were everywhere, we even viewed one in the mating act. David …

Sunday morning dawns too early, for Carly and Trent after their anniversary night. Our taxi van arrived 7:00 am sharp and no Carly and Trent. A Knock on their door revealed they had slept through their alarm. A flurried pack in 5 minutes and we were on our way to the ferry harbour - bound for Lanta on the Ao Nang Princess - a 4 hour trip/cruise …

Woken up by the sound of the heavy rain. We got ready and on our bikes as the group needed to assemble for breakfast. I got a lovely bike , blue and a bit "Vespa" like that has Lilo and Stitch on it. Motorbikes is the best mode of transport in the island as it is safe with almost no car traffic at all. We all have bikes that we like to ride on a long line one behind the other. I love riding the bike feeling the fresh air and getting the chance to take in the ...

... home. We walk to the Tavern for another great dinner, I try masaman curry this time which was lovely. We head to Mr guitar for some live music and after a few beers (about 8) Terry gets up alongside a guy sitting on the drums. Terry sings and strums 7 songs - Rockin in the free world (a string breaks on the last chorus-but in true rock'n'roll style T is not phased/he's drunk), Polly, Hey Joe, Outside woman blues, Hey hey my my, Untitled blues jam, Mosquito song - which go ...

... Lanta is an island that has always intrigued me so we ventured further south to explore. We got stuck in another transfer that should have taken 4 hours but ended up taking 6.5 hours due to having to wait for an available minivan. Oh and then the Driver had to deliver newpapers to every 7-11 on the eastern side of the island before he dropped us off! But when we got to Koh Lanta it was all worth it! We are at the southern tip of the island, closer to Malaysia ...
