... is basically a ute with two bench seats in the back. The system is that you ask the driver to take you somewhere and they either say no and drive off or they name your price. If you're lucky and they're headed your way, they'll then meander through the streets, stopping intermittently to try to pick up more passengers. I quickly determine that this system is entirely incompatible with trying to catch a connecting bus, but that's okay because the buses don't run on time ...

... front of us, makes me walk the streets in here with my bag right in my hands at all time...I have never in my life spent as much time on the police stations as in this country...me, watching over my back constantly in Thailand, that will never change. Because I had such a good time that night I had almost forgot where I was, but again Bangkok just couldn't resist on showing me more of its character.

The character is not a way to fallow...it's nothing but embarrassing ...

We get to the temple and the driver says, "See you back in an hour?" I sense this is a setup, like it can't be done in an hour (the guidebook says it's grueling), but I say "sure" anyway. I like a challenge.

... as white gold and it was great to see people clearing up the rubbish. The high tide meant the beach went out for miles and we certainly weren't seeing Dalum at her best. We enjoyed a coke at a beach/tree house and made the most of the precious views. I took a moment for the tsunami that struck almost exactly 9 years ago killing over 2000 people on Phi Phi alone, many of which were on this exact beach.
