... much of the night sweating profusely while watching the storm (I think we just achieved a personal record for Humidity Level Tolerated), and wondering if we’d be able to go gallivanting about a large body of water by morning. Things cleared up right around dawn, however, which is about when we met up with our taxi, along with a soft-spoken Canadiénne and a towering Dutchman.

Our driver bounced us along to our old friend the ferry dock where we climbed across a ...

... the 7 beaches on the island, but our favourite was a small undeveloped sandy cove called Nui Bay in the south. It was a small, crescent shaped beach bound by rocky cliffs and a backdrop of steep green jungle. We went on two separate a occasions and enjoyed having the beach pretty much to ourselves. ... Walking street connects Pattaya beach with Sunrise beach, personally my favourite. There is always a breeze here, so you never feel too hot and the crystal aqua blue water entices you to swim and snorkel. A few nice restaurants, such as The Castaway Resort line the bay and this really is the perfect place for me to chill out. Lulled by the sound of the waves and looking out towards the sky I literally had a wave of gratitude wash over me for being able to be there. I ...

... so didn't have to queue :-). It took about 20 minutes in a long tuk tuk and cost us 150 Baht to get dropped off at our hotel. The hotel is lovely, really basic but like someone's home. Cost us £15 a night. The beach is over the road. It's called Lomla Lanta. We went straight to bed. Slept for 3 hours!! Felt so much better after, shame really as we could have looked around ...
