... was nowhere to be seen. Not a single yellow sign in sight, and only one bank, with a dark blue sign; but still no travel agent. How on earth could we loose an entire shop on a 100 yard section of a street? We walked up and down, up and down, up and down, but found nothing. We were baffled! However, when all hope was lost and time was running out, we spotted it. The travel agent was a small desk with fold away furniture and had been packed ...
Ao Nang, Thailand kateandlindsay... br>Then I thought "F*ck, I haven't seen the legendary sunset yet, and I may leave tomorrow. It was 6:00 ish, and the daylight was fading. So I backtracked and ran toward the west beach, not stopping to assess whether the shortcut would work. It worked only for someone looking for a random forest, with nothing but trees in every direction, and no sign of a beach.
It is virtually impossible to get lost here - you are hemmed in by rocks, and the only way to leave is ...

Ban Ko, Krabi, Thailand leehorscraft... is also a HALF MOON PARTY and a BLACK MOON PARTY - it never ends! We decided to forego the Full Moon Party and stay put on Koh Samui. We took an island tour and visited various sights including, THE BIG BUDDHA, BIG BUDDHA BEACH (named after phallic and suggestive rock formations), NAMUANG WATERFALLS ("muang" means purple in Thai) and refers to the huge purple rocks that create the waterfalls. People ...
Krabi, Thailand dancoughlin... gorgeous, but it did sound like a rip off for not a lot of travel/beach time. No regrets on this trip though. We left and got a sangatheuw (hanging off the back as it was full up, inches from the asphalt :S ) and then a bus to Surat Thani. Not too bad a bus trip, compared to the rest of the time spent on buses to and from the capital. We got on the afternoon boat to Ko Samui - the largest of the three main islands in the Gulf of Thailand, and arrived just after dark.
Krabi, Thailand comedyad... passed on the shock to our side of the beach! There was a huge thunder and lightening storm after this, which we sat on the porch of our room and watched with a few beers. It was a really spectacular sight as Phi Phi is a really green, hilly island surrounded by ocean, and when the lightening hit it lit up everywhere. The next day we headed back on the boat to Phuket to fly on to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam via Bangkok for a ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand niamh_keith... polished those off in less than a day and went looking for more. And, while we can't say the days of the week in Thai, Candy can tell you about any and all of the "subs of the day" at Subway. We really love Bangkok. You can walk two blocks in any direction and always find some crazy or new experience. Each day we found new street foods/beverages (unfortunately, you could never count on the vendor ever coming back; we never did get ...
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand candyandray... up because there was a ranger there waiting for us & so crept an hour back. It took so long because the sea bed was full of sharp dead coral, which they apparantly removed for making the film & then replaced! For the record our accommodation in Phi Phi was lovely!
Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand icarver... t think it'll be long before what's left of the beauty of Koh Phi Phi will be swallowed up by yet more resorts. We went on a snorkelling trip which was nice, although it didn't compare to the snorkelling sites I went to in Malaysia. I know for sure now that should I ever decide to take a diving course, it would have to be in Malaysia. I was happy to be travelling with an eco-friendly tour guide, although I couldn't help but notice ...
Koh Phi Phi Don, Thailand annek... br>
There was a full size snooker table surrounded by locals who could hardly see over it, located right next to a small but noisy bar packed with young backpackers.
The bar was full of loud, drunk Aussies dancing to the Chilli Peppers and House of Pain, while the snooker was without a doubt the lowest standard that I have ever witnessed in ...
