Monika took us out to Cloppenburg Museum Village where Peter had a stall to sell his ironmongery. Peter, Monika's partner, makes & sells decorative iron works for the garden ranging from pot stands to small rotundas fabricated from steel bars & tubes. Other than bikes and pedestrians there is little traffic in the old city centre which is great for strolling around. Late afternoon we strolled over an old bridge where lovers plight their troth by attaching a padlock to the railings.

We drove a few hours on hair-raisingly fast motorways, with a planned stop in Osnabrucke. Heavy traffic, superb highways, no apparent speed limit.
