We all slowly fell in love with Slovenia, camping in the pine trees, swimming in the lake and chilling amongst the mountains. The campsite was full of Dutch teenagers making the most of the activities on offer on the raging river running past the campsite. A great couple of nights enjoying the surroundings, even with some traditional Slovenian music thrown in as we ate dinner on the last ...

We woke from our kind of sleep to stunning views from the windows as the train neared Villach and the Austrian Alps. We had realised that we were close to the Rosental valley, so decided that we should have a quick explore before finding a campsite with the aim of finding some tacky Rosental souvenir. We're planning to return to Germany and Austria next year, and a side trip to Italy will be in order. We're hoping to get a longer visa for me next March from the German Consulate, so we won't run up against the problem again.

... relaxed, taking in the natural beauty of Lake Bled.

Our first activity for our busy day in Bled was to visit Vintgar Gorge. We walked about 45 minutes to get to the gorge and the path took us through small villages and farmland. Walking along the path through the gorge gave us beautiful views of the rushing water below us. Unfortunately, it was really cloudy so the water wasn't nearly as blue as it looks in the pictures of the gorge we have seen. ...
