... shampoo and other important things. We went to a place called Alexanderplatz which is in the heart of Berlin. I saw part of the Berlin Wall, but I'll be doing a walking tour of the city on Saturday so I'll talk about that more then. To get around the city, we took the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn everywhere. Bahn is German for train, with the U-Bahn being mostly below ground and the S-Bahn is above ground. It's so clean and easy to get around on, even young children travel ...

... didn't take a photo of this. Next was a very poignant Holocaust Memorial. We will post some photos, see what you think about the memorial. Our lovely guide told us that it has no particular interpretation, there is no right of wrong way to look at it, nor is there a right or wrong thing to get out of it, it just is there. We meet up with about another 18 people and off we head on foot. Barnaby is very engaging and we have a mix of Aussies, Americans, Canadians and South ...

... left as is. Strange!! Anyway San Souci Palace was beautiful and very opulent. A small version of Versailles. After we got back we decided to try the underground. It was quite an adventure...we went to a very large Art Museum called the Gemaldegalerie..... A collection of13th through 18th century European paintings. Today we walked up the large department store called KaDeWe. It ...

... section of the Berlin Wall and also Checkpoint Charlie, which was the only place to enter the old GDR. We also spent 90 minutes in the Holocaust Museum. This is an amazing place that needs the detailed study of days rather than hours. It has been designed by a genius and the contents of the museum are beyond sadness. The room full of metal representations of Edvard Munch's 'scream' ...
