... not do it justice. Having seen the original the Disney version looks a bit like "**** weak world" castle. If you get the chance visit the real thing. Amazing to see and fascinating story behind it. The castle also featured in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie, though in viewing the clip for that online the movie melds together shots of the real palace with movie sets and doesn't show any of the interior.

Arrived quite early 5.30 a.m. and used the S-Bahn to get to our accommodation. An apartment in Ramersdorf. Once settled tackled the S-Bahn again and made our way to Oktoberfest. 7 Million people attend Oktoberfest and it seemed that they were all there with us. Very crowded but colourful. So after yesterdays downer, today was time for something a bit lighter. I had booked a tour to Neuschwanstein Castle. This is the castle that inspired just acout every castle in Walt Disneys movies. A huge shining white castle on a mountain top, with huge turrets and balconies. The tour started at the train station, with a 3hour joinery to Hohenshwangau. This is a little village in the Bavarian Alps. The country up there was magnificent. Open pastures with snaking ...

... before the war, and the Nazi party wanted to exploit the materials and machines that they already had in Dachau to have the prisoners produce munitions for the German army in the "labor camp" of Dachau. When we first got there, it felt as every other museum felt. There were a lot of people and it seemed to be a very popular, touristy place.

When we met our tour guide, Tobias, the mood kind of changed. Tobias was a German native that had a great German ...

... the castle. You weren't allowed to take any pictures which brought down the experience just slightly because I would have loved to take those memories home and share them. But either way the castle was pretty darn awesome! We were the last small group of our bigger tour group to go so we had to hurry down the hill. The 6 girls all decided to walk down in the interest of time because we only had 15 minutes before we were supposed to meet at the bus, but the ...
