We have arrived in Steyr to stay for 1 night. It's really nice here - I wish we could be staying here for longer! A day of 2 halves today. The first being hot and dry, the second being absolutely anything but. Perked up by the end though luckily as we had planned a wild camp after the last couple of nights' extravagance.
Near the end of the day we stopped for a beer and a sit down. We were met with a lot of American tourists on bikes... ...
... me and Finn remarking how many young Austrians smoke (you can still smoke in pubs in Austria - much to our dismay). I put it down to the cigarette vending machines on every street corner - the worst idea ever.
We returned to our room at midnight ready to mounr the bikes the next day after the longest time since we started without doing so!
All in all - a pretty good 25th.

Seeing the gas chambers and the cremation chambers was a strange experience. Because you know something terrible happened here, but now it just looks like a room and a big oven. ... which makes it a very homely feel. By the end of the first night, he had also got to know all 30-odd of our names which we found brilliant. We all ended up having a few drinks after dinner, catching up on travelling stories, also with a lot of Kiwi/Aussie banter which made for a great atmosphere. How has this hotel rated in the past?
We were only here for night but it was very enjoyable. Breakfast was so good!
