    We were only here for night but it was very enjoyable. Breakfast was so good!

    ... location in the movie as the original location is now owned by Harvard and they didn't want the tourist traffic so they gave it to some palace on the outskirts of town. We all traipsed out of the bus to get a photo and some of those keen travellers sang "I Am 16 Going on 17" Also in this location is the avenue of trees where Maria and the children rode bikes (from memory, that avenue was located beside the river in the movie, not the case in reality).     ... that you are on the right track!

    We arrived at the Ferry ramp expecting to see a ferry across the river or part way between - no such luck! Five other cyclists arrived as we were planning our detour that involved a retreat and a way around the water. One of the cyclists was local, rang the Ferry number to find the the ferry was 10 mins away. Great news, as the detour would have taken much longer.

    Day 2 on our bikes. The ducks wake us up bright and early. We begin our ride stopping very quickly at an adorable Gasthof for a warm cup of kaffee while waiting for the ferry which didn't arrive! The sweet Austrian lady did try to tell us something... It must have been that the ferry is no longer running! So we continue on the left bank, hoping the terrain remains flat.
