... it to Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.

So what's the big attraction that warrants so much travel agony? Well, Madagascar has many attractions -- rain forests, mountains, beaches -- but it is the fauna that are the big draw for us. Reptiles, amphibians, birds (I'm hoping to seriously add to my life list), and, most especially, lemurs. And because of Madagascar's evolutionary history and isolation, most of ...

Unfortunately our room had no air conditioning and it was a tad warm, so we opened the window, and were greeted by the sounds of Frankfurt one floor below. Needless to say, not much sleep. On the upside, it happened to be a holiday in Germany, called "Father's Day," apparently a Christian ...

... some pickled gherkins and special schmaltz bread which is like fat on bread. We then went a bit further before stopping for lunch at a place called Lubbenau and have a look about for an hour. I found some chestnuts but they weren't too good so I left them behind. Whilst going along on the boat I spotted a fish and then I couldn't believe it but I saw a water snake. No ...
