    Took the train from Nuremberg to Munich. Encountered a group of refugees. Pretty difficult to get through with all the police that were there as well. I thought we might miss our train!! We didn't miss this connection although it is really full. One more transfer and we will be in ...

    ... as it was incredibly steep. But Maddi and I were comfortable...sitting in the shade with our lattes. They finally made it, rested, ate and drank, and we headed down, on a different, not so steep path, which took us an hour downhill, through 'sound of music' country, farms, and lots of cows with their bells tinkling.
    What a wonderful few days..... We head to Salzburg tomorrow so will catch up again soon.Love for now,

    Howdy folks,

    Before going on our really big hike, Steffie and I wanted to have a day off before doing it. So Steffie came up with the idea of checking out a canyon called the Wimbachschlucht in the neighbouring town of Ramsau. So we jumped in the car after breakfast and a cup of tea in order to check it out. Even though we were there at around 10am, the car park was full because it is one of the favourite spots to park if you are climbing the Watzmann.

    ... that were planned and the grand entrance with marble staircase, floors and walls and immaculate paintings which really gave the place a grandiose appearance fit for a Bavarian king. Climbing up the stairs we were greeted with rooms, each more astounding and unbelievably richer than the last. It appears that the Mad King was mad about the Sun King Louis IV and had the whole place designed as an homage to him and Versailles albeit on a smaller, but finer scale.

This pretty little Bavarian village is on the banks of another lake and is certainly not something we expected to see at a height of 1084m.
