... a bit out of the way for getting to Salzburg but many pretty scenes, houses and mountains were evident on the road there. This little town is very pretty indeed – high, snowy mountains and a great big lake. Plenty of pretty little houses also. We had a good walk around – took plenty of photos including a funny one of Craig wearing an interesting hat – he looks so much like Poppa in that photo. Only bad thing was that ...

... we went back to the appartement. We all had a break and spent time on our computers doing email, reading etc. Most of this time was spent on the balcony watching it rain and it rained pretty hard a couple of times. We had a great view of the longest glacier in the eastern Alps, but not for long if it keeps melting. We also noticed that if we continued much farther up the trail we would lose the good views for a long time, so we went back. We thought we might ride the funicular down to the river and lakes created by the melting glacier but ...

... was spectacular. Cheryl and I took turns taking pictures of each other. Then we had this really nice dude from the Czech Republic take our picture on the “thumb” of 5 Fingers. It was a little nerve wracking walking out on those fingers – made of steel obviously, but hanging so far out over the ground below …. and I'm not great with heights. Nevertheless, we hung out there for a while just because the view was so darn spectacular.

We finally made ...
