It's not a Dream!

A travel blog entry by dorothy73 on Aug 11, 2014

Last night attempted our first dining experience and managed to order the food and wine we actually wanted! Chose the right time to be out and about as rain started just after our return to the apartment. Elspeth (Manager of the apartments) drove Ron to arrange a hire car for a week as from Thurs. so we should get to see some very interesting countryside. Zell is set in the Mosel Valley so when we caught a bus to a large shopping ...

After an exhausting trip we have arrived at our apartment in Zell and what a wonderful sight. We look out over the Mosel River at a very busy river moving vessels of all description and charming houses on the banks opposite. Weren't sure what we would find, but as we drove into town what really stood out was a castle ...

As the crow flies, Cochem is only about 12kms away, but with the bends in the river, driving distance is about 35km. It was a spectacular, sunny day and the scenery was beautiful. Right next to the river it is very flat, and this is where all the towns are built. Then the sides of the river valley are really steep and ...

... this....' and met a few others from the squadron, it was also the birthday of a visiting senior man. Not having moved all night and being delivered strong vodkas to each round of everyone else' beers, at close, 10pm, lets say I were very 'cheery'.

We left for a greasy feed at Rockers, a very American restaurant open on base until late. Finding myself unable to read the menu and everything settling in, I removed myself for the night! Thanks for the help McVittie!!
