      Last day on the slopes

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 30, 2015

... had lunch with the lads and James from my class, lovely fresh pizza mmm.

For the last run of the day, I went all the way to the top of the mountain. The wind was terrifying, the visibility was nil or less, I couldn’t even tell which was down on account of the gravity not seeming to be working as usual. After about 20 or so exhausting minutes trying to find down, I gave up and went back to the lifts.

At this stage, it seems that gravity very ...

Snowboarding day 5 - Off Piste!

      ... my thighs hurt.

Very very rewarding day, best day ever, again. I waited for the lads for apres ski for all of 5 minutes, then decided to disco nap. I got on the bus home, fell asleep and took that sleep straight to bed for a solid 5 hour disco nap.

I donned my pimp suit for a couple of hours out with the boys, nothing too strenuous. For the one-for-the-road Mark and I went into the Irish bar, they were kicking out so we did a shot and ...

Snowboarding day 4 - jumps in the park

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 28, 2015

Early up, at Angertal early, saw Dustin the Turkey on the radio show. Introduced myself to him after and got a photo for Greg who only a few weeks ago introduced me via youtube to Dustin the Turkey. Had a nice chat about how nice Luton is.

In the afternoon, we were treated to the fun park. Jumps which could be jumped over. There is a T-bar to the top which is steep. I coupled up with Hugh to ride to the top (me little spoon, he big spoon) and in polite ...

      Snowboarding day 3

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 27, 2015

... I found people in the fest alm attempting to pick up a Jägermeister from the floor, with their mouth, and without bending their knees. Other heroics were a big fella bench pressing a woman while standing up. The cover band were great again, I found several members of my class and danced. After midnight it was Patrick’s birthday, I gave him a piggyback to collect high fives from everyone. Went home with Mark, Garry must have snuck off to bed ...

      Snowboarding day 2

... That sounded sad but I loved learning what he could tell me about the country he comes from. Garry persuades the DJ to play “Don’t stop believing”. Brief dancing on the tables interlude. Conversation doesn’t manage to get back to quite such a serious tone. We all spend a long time talking to the Slovenians. Turns out they are staying in the same hotel; we make snow angels, wake up the boys, eat fruit and turn ...
