Lucerne is an old Swiss city, begun in the 13th Century. It is pretty large, but has a quaint atmosphere. It has a section called "the old city" and seems to be where all the action is. We arrived at the train station and went to Tourist Information. The nice young lady told us our hotel was only 5 minutes away in "the old city." It's called Mr. Pickwick Hotel and Pub. We took the bus back into town. The train would have done this in 10 minutes but the track was out of order this week. Then we walked around the old town. The pastries here are fantastic! My favorite, strudel of all kinds, and it is everywhere. We walked across the Chapel Bridge, an old wooden bridge spanning the end of Lake Lucerne.
