... is a secret WW2 bunker built inside a mountain. It was only decommissioned by the army in 1995 and the Swiss have preserved it as a museum. Usually they only open it on Friday evenings with tours on German. She (as a senior guide with Trafalgar ) has convinced them to allow groups to come as a trial . We are the first group. We have all promised to be on our very best behavior :-) WOW!!! The Festung Vitznau was amazing. The entire facility is as it was in ...

No one wanted to miss out on the 12:20 train. We were close to the front of the line before we ...

Before leaving Lucerne this morning I walked to the Saturday market just a block from the hotel. It had rained earlier but when I went out it was just a crisp autumn morning. It was a lot like our Saturday markets except they had different breads, roasted nuts, cheese stalls, meat stalls, and some lovely flower vendors. They had flowers galore, lots of ...

... was the old city walls of Lucerne, located on the edge of town. A shout out to Lindsay Keller for the great recommendation. It was a hidden gem! Keller and I had a blast climbing the steep tower staircases and walking the perimeter of the ancient walls. At the top we were rewarded with fabulous views of the entire city. Hello, Lucerne! Keller and I decided right then and there that we needed to move to ...
