Norbert took me on a nostalgic tour of my early childhood to the age of 11, visiting the town centre, the primary schools that I had attended and 57 Duererstrasse - my former home!

After almost missing my train from Herzogenrath to Gladbeck, I was relieved to experience a Regional train which is generally far more crowded with local commuters. It was a joy to be reunited with my cousin Brunhild (from my Mother's side) in the nigh darkness.

... a lorry was sideways across 3 lanes with the cab facing backwards and a few cars looking the worse for wear. Obviously not a good day for driving in Germany today. After lunch I carried on driving and there were occasional downpours which didn't help as I got more tired and then when we came to a section of roadworks I got stuck in the wrong lane and had to take the exit and was unable to rejoin the motorway.
