    ... and Cuong chatting to go across the street to the famed Ben Thanh Market. With so many shops and so little time, I walked through the market. Since most did not take credit cards and I was low on dollars, I just enjoyed the excitement.

    On our way back to the ship, we visited the Chinese medicine street. We got a lesson on the way the different herbs and dried roots can heal many diseases.

    ... Jo went off to see the film Amour about a couple in their 80s whose life is severely affected by the wife’s stroke. The film, with French sub-titles, details the husband’s struggle to care for his wife, at home as she wishes and the external pressures brought
    to bear on the couple during that time. Cheerful indeed! Nick did some blogging and guitar practice.

    After dinner we decided to read our books before retiring for the night.

    ... in we got a flat tyre, luckily for us we stopped about 10m away from a mechanic, the inner tube completely burst so we had that changed for 100,000VND (3). The mechanic looked about 14 years old and spoke no English at all, Thank god we had our phrase book.

    ... Andrew shared that it felt strange to be talking to people about their experience in a war zone over 40 years ago, when his experience was only 4 months ago. A few more drinks were had to ponder over that concept. However, we retired early as we had a bus to meet in front of our hotel at 3.30 am.
