... together like a trooper, but the other girl in our group was a bit panicked. The dive master had to calm her down for 3 mins before descending. Visibility was probably 10m, until we descended to about 10m under the surface. Visibility was an amazing 30m; it was insane! The rock formations in the middle of the ocean blew me away with its amazing life, colour and clarity. We dove about 22m deep and saw schools of Chevron barracudas and even a 1.8m long Giant barracuda which looked ...

... and a single year old baby. We walked around the area feeding the different elephants and petting them. Most excited was the baby elephant, a little over waist high, with her wandering trunk. To my surprise, elephants are extremely coarse and wrinkly. That afternoon we signed up for the "Amazing Mountain Adventure." Two elephant rides, trekking to a hill tribe, and bamboo rafting were all on our schedule for the ...

... seen before.

After all the fun relays, we had a game of basketball Messiah vs. BCNC. I’m not entirely sure why we decided to divide up that way because there was a serious height disparity between the two teams. We won decisively, but we were no match for them in the cheering competition. The entire day was filled with awesome coordinated cheers that were extremely complex, and did I say awesome? They all did it ...

... figure out what the other person was trying to say. Being in a foreign country and not knowing the language is a scary thing but Der made me feel safe and always took care of me. It’s still a little odd to me when I think about the amount of trust I put in someone I met a week ago. But then again, what’s the point of faith if it isn’t tested?

Speaking of faith… this morning we went to a Thai Christian church called Fellowship Church. To be ...

... which included the largest trousers I've ever seen in my life; you could've fit all three of us in them! We then learnt some Mahout commands for the elephants; Pai Pai means Forward and Hau means Stop. You can imagine which one we ended up using most. We then fed the elephants potatoes (who knew?) and were finally allowed to ride them. The elephants lifted up their leg and we clambered up on their backs (Emma and I shared one and Han rode like ...

    Rude, unfriendly, unhelpful sevice

This place is cheap as chips - a single room with fan and WiFi can be procured for a mere 120 baht. Needless to say, the accommodation is very basic (hard single beds, paper-thin bamboo walls, etc. etc.) but this is nothing compared to the unnecessary rudeness of the Lamchang hostess. She initially short-changed me (quite possibly an honest mistake), but after insisting on having my correct change refunded, she became so unpleasant and rude that it made the rest of my stay very unenjoyable. This was even AFTER I did my utmost to be kind and pleasant to overcome the initial misunderstanding. Some friends stayed at a much newer, more modern, cleaner establishment up the road (Thai 1 On, Moon Maung Soi 9) for only 150 baht for a single room with WiFi.
