    Rude, unfriendly, unhelpful sevice

This place is cheap as chips - a single room with fan and WiFi can be procured for a mere 120 baht. Needless to say, the accommodation is very basic (hard single beds, paper-thin bamboo walls, etc. etc.) but this is nothing compared to the unnecessary rudeness of the Lamchang hostess. She initially short-changed me (quite possibly an honest mistake), but after insisting on having my correct change refunded, she became so unpleasant and rude that it made the rest of my stay very unenjoyable. This was even AFTER I did my utmost to be kind and pleasant to overcome the initial misunderstanding. Some friends stayed at a much newer, more modern, cleaner establishment up the road (Thai 1 On, Moon Maung Soi 9) for only 150 baht for a single room with WiFi.

... but the little ******* got away and disappeared into someone else's blankets and mattress pad. Good thing I will never enter that room again in my life.

The last day consisted primarily of going back into the main village in a 2.5 hour long bamboo raft excursion. If you're not completely sure what a bamboo raft is, I will attempt to explain it into an image. It is literally a flat raft made of about 6 thick bamboo shafts wide (about 4 feet) and extends far back ...

... is very much for the south part of the country. The food in the north east part of Thailand is so completely different, and delicious. Its funny how things work out, right? In Bangkok my entries repeatedly mentioned how much I would love some company. But like so many other things, it doesn't really matter if you get want you want, unless it works for you. I probably loved today more than the day I spent with the group. They were ...

... and attend daily/weekly cooking classes. Our teacher for the day asked us to call her Big Mama and her English reminded me of Bloody Mary in the musical South Pacific. The first order of business was the introduction to all the spices (and there were many), fresh produce, and the seasonings to be used for the menu. Being Asian, I had the advantage of familiarity with fish sauce or patis, shrimp paste or bagoong, tamarind sauce ...

Today was an ok day! The day started out a little rough with a difficult time meditating, then the morning asana session had a lot of ab workout, which I need but find hard! Other people also found it tiring, so that was that. I got some negative thoughts in my mind this morning. It was easy to send them away! The power of positive thinking! Like anything else, it gets easier with ...

When we were talking to the community members we went and talked to the oldest women in the community who is 88 years old. She seemed so happy and with such a positive outlook on life even though she was confined to bed after breaking her hips after falling last year. ...
