... some very interesting things about the behaviour of particular people around me...I'll just wait and see if those come true. After the astrologer we visited the krishna temple which was founded by a hindu saint. I didn't even know there were saints in hinduism. Inside the temple is a statue of krishna which emerged from a single chunk of basalt when this saint tapped it once. The temple was of traditional south Indian architecture, with statues perching all the way up the tall ...
Udupi, India sim_armitt... yesterday we managed 3 meals for 2.50 for both of us! This is probably down to the fact that there is little tourism here, and that that is here is geared mainly for pilgrims visting the Krishna temple, we've not seen another Westerner, and we get intrigued looks from some of the locals when we turn up at their local eating hall! We are eating only in the dhabas, most of which have 'meals ready' signs outside, indicating they do ...

Mangalore, India explorers... made their way down to the old world fishing port town on Fort Cochin. A Portuguese enclave in Southern India, which houses the worlds most scant selection of bars ever seen. I've been in dry Muslim countries and found it easier to get a drink! However, we did, of course manage to get a drink and to arrange ourselves somewhere to stay! What else would we do??? In Cochin we met up with the eclectic mix of buccaneers bound on this adventure. Some 40 teams in all. However, they ...
Mangalore, India thecaptain... t look like very good grapes anyway. Humph. Anyway, Udipi. It's where the masala dosa (a crispy rice pancake rolled and filled with a potato curry, and quite delicious) was invented, and it's home to the Krishna Temple containing an image of the Hindu deity Krishna, which was (allegedly) found perfectly formed in a block of ballast. What is very strange, and we can't explain, is that men ...
Udipi, India timreis... Most of the tourists come here for the stunning views, as well as the Ayurvedic massage treatment. This is where you go see a guy who is an Ayurvedic "specialist" and get yourself assessed. You're then told that you have chronic back pain (or something similar) and you need about 3 weeks of treatment to make it right. We met up with a group of 5 or 6 girls from the UK that had either stayed for their ...
Varkala, India daveandlisa... many hazards one must really watch one's ass when driving a motorbike. By the time I got off it was noon, the hottest part of the day, and also much busier than the dawn hours, which I had hoped would be my time of departure. . Nothing runs on schedule here in India, all bets are off, all things are subject to change, and so one learns an easy spirit way that lets you accept these changes, and not to get worked up about it too much. I can see why the Buddha is ...
Palolem, India bloomer... back in the mangalore and having fun..i know one thing is for sure...after taking so many rough bus trips and scooter rides...i hope that i will still be able to have kids one day because god knows indian roads are bad on the ******....i still wonder how this country has a population problem with roads like this???? well otherwise...i went over to the ashram and got them all the meds they needed....they ...
Mangalore, India sumeeth1... I ate like the locals and used my right hand. In India, especially in the South or more traditional areas in the North, people eat with their hands; even the rice and curry dishes. However, only the right hand is used and the left hand is never to touch food. The left hand is used to clean yourself after going to the bathroom (they use water and not toilet paper - Katie and I carry our own roles everywhere ...
Mangalore, India gisela... though, but we saw many annoyed looking locals covered in the stuff. Lucky I didn't bring my straighters because due to the humidity, my hair looks like that of the little boy who went on Wogan as an antiques expert and went on to become a trannie. I had more to tell you but I just can't remember. Sorry no photos as yet, we promise that as soon as we can be ***** we'll stick some on, and you can't say fairer than that. Right, that's me! Off to waste more time.. Kristal xxx
