After a brief downtime back at our hotel, we went out to the corner restaurant. It served asian type dishes including Chinese, Japanese and Indian. It was OK but pricey 107TL AU$55 which included a small bottle of red. There were outdoor heaters and we were provided with throws/shawls to stay warm. Overall, a nice experience.
Tomorrow evening, we will meet Ahmet - a good friend of Clive Hutt.
... I went into a Starbucks and got a water bottle and interesting sandwich with two different types of cheese and tomatoes, it was called Mystic. It was pretty delicious. Our concert pieces consisted of the spiritual songs in English and the space was gorgeous in the church. Veil or no veil....the sultan and sultana of Wallalong had a pretty fun day!! We started early at Topckapi Palace....where we learned a thing or two about harems, court life and black and white eunuchs....not to mention seeing an enormous collection of royal treasure...enough to get any imagination fired up...so it was off to the grand bazaar to look at sultan gear and carpets....the spice market was incredible...see pics.....tired, haven't managed to have that bath yet!! Love to you ...
Had lunch outside on the terrace on a side street beside Hagia Sophia. Frank enjoyed a Turkish lamb stew.
Wandered through the old gardens of Topaki Palace, where the sultan lived. We'll visit the palace itself tomorrow.
